Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) will be joined by more practices to work on detailed plans for three buildings in Canada Water, south-east London, after its outline master plan was approved
BIG will work on detailed designs for the tallest building, a 110-meter-tall waterside tower. This office building is set to be made of five vertical blocks which twist around a central core, creating terrace spaces overlooking Canada Water.

However, other practices are expected to be appointed to bring forward reserved matters applications for another two buildings, which will stand at maximum heights of 63 meters and 55 meters respectively and contain primarily office space. The buildings are depicted with ziggurat forms in images in the outline masterplan.

The outline plans for the site were approved by Southwark Council’s planning committee on Monday (21 March, 2022) and replace phases 2-4 of an earlier Maccreanor Lavington master plan, which had featured a 40-story tower by David Chipperfield Architects.

Overall the master plan contains 144,000 square meters of office space as well 2,000-7,000 square meters of space for cafés and restaurants or leisure or medical facilities. There will also be a minimum of 300 square meters of community space, as well as a new “waterfront square” and “linear landscaped park.”
