Mecanoo is progressing with a 28-story, 90-meter tower in north Amsterdam. The mixed-use residential and commercial tower has been formally approved by city officials and will now move forward to construction later in October of 2022 with completion expected in 2025. The scheme is proposed to deliver 406 apartments with 266 rental homes and 120 affordable homes, which will be supported by residential amenties, care facilities, a community center, and dining facilities.

Named the Brink Tower after the Dutch word for open green space, the scheme is imagined as a “visual and social link” between two existing residential neighborhoods in north Amsterdam. The building’s rounded corners and warm, red brick exterior reference the Amsterdam School of the 1920s. Full-height glazing pulls light into the space between bricks.
