On July 11th, a steel beam was added to “top off” the first high-rise to be built on Treasure Island. The 22-story tower, Tidal House, features 250 apartments and is the tallest of four residential buildings currently under construction. Tidal House will have 1,200 square feet of retail space and a roof deck. It will also feature 31 studios, 93 one-bedroom apartments, and ground-floor townhomes.

Building the 240-foot high-rise on the island has been a substantial task. Tidal House required 70 million pounds of reinforcing steel, 2,167 cement truck loads, and 12,000 anchors to secure curtain glass walls. During this year alone, Over 23 inches of rain has fallen on the project. There have also been construction slowdowns due to 1,200 San Francisco construction union workers out of work currently.
