Developers are proposing to build the Shepherds Wharf skyscraper in Plymouth, which would be the tallest building in the city and the Southwest, standing at 30 stories high. The building would include two residential buildings, one a 10-floor rectangular apartment block and the other an “elegant” skyscraper, which would create a “gateway building” for the city. The project would contain approximately 200 flats, commercial space, shops, and restaurants.

The building would be located on derelict land at Sutton Harbour, near the Beckley Point student flats and other new and planned waterfront developments. The Shepherds Wharf project is in the public consultation phase, and the developers are seeking feedback from the public until September 1. The site previously received planning consent for a different scheme in 2008, but it was never built, and the land changed hands several times. The new proposal is being developed with the help of city architects LHC Design and Plymouth City Council. If approved, the construction could begin before the end of 2025.
