After more than three years of suspension, the Haikou Tower 1 is poised to resume construction. At 428 meters, the tower will be among the tallest in Hainan and will deliver about 390,000 square meters of office space as well as tourist attractions and other amenities. The breakdown is as follows: 84,700 square meters of offices, 90,200 square meters of SOHO apartments, 48,100 square meters of hotels, and 8,197 square meters of business.
On 11 October 2022, the national public resource trading platform announced the winning bid for the general contracting of the Haikou Tower project. The price limit is about 301 million yuan (US$41 million) lower, and the planned construction period is 1,734 days.
This movement means that Haikou Tower 1, which has been suspended since April 2019, will officially resume work. In addition to the general contracting targets, since July 2022, bidding announcements for other components of the work have been announced, including for engineering design (awarded to China Zhongyuan International Engineering Co., Ltd.) project supervision (China Yuanda International Engineering Management Consulting Co., Ltd), cost consulting (awarded to Shanghai Shenyuan Engineering Investment Consulting Co., Ltd) and other targets. The buds totaled about 55.39 million yuan (US$7.5 million).
