The Lakeview project in downtown Duluth reached a major construction milestone with a topping out celebration on June 25, marking the structural completion of the 15-story residential and mixed-use development.

Located next to Essentia Health’s St. Mary’s campus, the US$100 million project will offer 210 residential units with sweeping views of Lake Superior. The building will connect directly to the new hospital via a climate-controlled bridge and integrate into Duluth’s broader skyway system.

Speaking on the site, Senior Projct Manager Tom Caluotte stated, “This is our last post-tension concrete deck. At that point, we consider the structure complete.” The roof deck will be poured the following week, capping off the building’s structural phase.

Set to open in phases, floors one through seven are turning over in mid-October, followed by floors eight through 13 in November. Full completion is expected by the end of the year.

Amenities will include dining and retail spaces, a fitness and wellness center, and pet-friendly features. Stuart Zadra, Executive Vice President of Landmark Development, said the project could help spark future growth along Superior Street. “It’s an opportunity to recognize the incredible work of everyone involved,” he said, adding that the development reflects growing demand among younger generations for vibrant urban living.
