The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced that it will be building what could be the world’s largest Ferris wheel at Haneul Park. Called Seoul Ring, the wheel will be constructed on Nodeul Island due to its infrastructure and accessibility. It also has great expansive views that the wheel can overlook.
Haneul Park is thought of as a gateway to Seoul and overlooks the Hangang River. Seoul Ring will break away from the traditional design of spoked Ferris wheels and use technology to create a spokeless design.
Expected to serve as a new landmark, Seoul Ring will be constructed on the former landfill site by 2025 as a symbol of the circular economy and climate action for both people and nature.
