Plans for a casino at Hudson Yards have been scrapped due to sustained public opposition. Related Companies and Wynn Resorts, who had proposed a five-story gaming and resort podium as part of Hudson Yards Phase Two, announced they would not pursue a New York City gaming license.

Wynn cited the city’s rezoning process and anticipated resistance as factors, saying their capital would be better invested elsewhere. The proposal faced criticism from the founders of the adjacent High Line, who publicly opposed the development last year.

Friends of the High Line welcomed the decision, praising Related for responding to community concerns and emphasizing the need for careful review of the revised plans, which now include more affordable housing and enhanced public space.
