A contractor has deemed the 164-unit Port 6969 Collins Avenue at 6969 Collins Avenue safe for occupancy after the shorting or reinforcement of beams in the building was completed.

This followed an earlier evacuation in late October 2022 of the condo’s residents over concerns about the property’s structural integrity. This decision was made after a contractor reports that a main beam in the 51-year-old structure’s garage was deteriorating. A more in-depth analysis is being conducted in order to get the issue permanently rectified, but in the meantime it was determined that the structural condition of the beams was not a threat to occupancy.
