On 21 October, 2024, revised plans were submitted for the 1 Undershaft proposal in London by Eric Parry Architects.  The 74-story building, led by developers Stanhope and Aroland Holdings, would be located between the Leadenhall Building and the Gherkin, featuring a podium above St Helen’s Square.

The updated design includes minor changes to the ground and lower floor layouts, reducing the tower’s footprint and enhancing public accessibility. The plan also includes an 11-story cantilevered garden and a public viewing platform. Previously, the City of London’s planning committee deferred the decision in July due to concerns about the ground-level impact of the garden podium. The development will provide 154,000 square meters of office space for 9,500 workers, along with retail, commercial, and public areas. The updated plans retain a space for the Museum of London on the upper floors.

Historic England had previously objected to the design in February, citing concerns over its form and impact on nearby streets, despite it not objecting to its height. It remains uncertain if they will review the revised plans. Eric Parry noted that the design was modified to align with new working trends and sustainability goals, enhancing urban green spaces.

Pending approval construction would start in 2025, with a five-year timeline leading to completion in 2030.
