The Ealing Council has approved a controversial £28 million (US$34 million) tower that will reach 15 stories and serve as a residence for women only. The project will be built on a site near Acton Town Underground station in west London.

Called Women’s Pioneer Housing (WPH) will require the flattening of 39 apartments in three existing buildings at 100 Gunnersbury Lane, Acton.

The Brook House block will deliver 102 one- and two-bedroom homes for single women through an association that was founded 100 years ago by suffragists. Ten of the homes are for disabled people and all of the homes are designated affordable housing.

GRID Architects is the designer.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall and the project’s finishing date is expected in 2025.
