About

Marshall is a New York native and currently residing in the Chicago area. He been collecting data on tall building, structures and bridges for over 50 years. Being the CTBUH Database Editor, Marshall manages the Tall Building Database and controls the quality of it's content. He has followed up on many media inquiries and has been quoted as the source of tall building data on many occasions.

Marshall worked in the steel industry for 32 years and has been a member of the CTBUH since 1996. After joining the CTBUH, Marshall became the major contributor to the Council’s official list of 100 Tallest Buildings in the World, as well as many other listings of tall building.

In 1997 Marshall introduced a tall buildings list coined 'The Hot 500' on the new-created Web site Worldstallest.com. This list, containing every building in the world over 500 feet, has since become the basic source from which the current CTBUH Tallest Database has been created. In 2000 he co-founded skyscrapers.com, currently known as Emporis. In 2004 he served on the CTBUH Annual Awards Committee.

Marshall has contributed data, information and photographs of tall buildings to many well known publications, such as 'The World Almanac and Book of Facts', Judith Dupre's 'Skyscrapers' and 'Churches' and titles such as 'Sky High Living' and '101 of the World’s Tallest Buildings'.
