A major milestone of the core topping out at 389 meters was reached for Lucheng Square in Wenzhou, China on 12 December 2025. With this achievement, the project continues to be on track to open in 2028.

Located along the Oujiang River in Lucheng District, the project has a total construction area of 260,000 square meters. The mixed-use building has four floors underground and 79 floors above ground, and will bring together various functions such as commerce, housing, offices, hotel, and a conference center to become an urban complex that drives regional development.

The design concept was influenced by the “Eye of Oujiang” and integrated Wenzhou’s natural and humanistic imagery into the shape. The building façade adopts dynamic light and shadow design with the north and south facades gradually changing from the bottom glass upwards to woven textured metal curtain walls, as if capturing the sparkling waves of the river. The east and west facades are enhanced by vertical metal sunshade ribs, which have both aesthetic and energy-saving functions.

The project history stands out in which it has grown taller with each major revision. Originally conceived in 2007 with a planned height of 350 meters, the project remained dormant for several years before re-emerging with renewed momentum. In 2020, the design was officially revised to 369 meters, signaling a renewed confidence in the city’s development trajectory. This upward adjustment continued in 2021, when the height was further increased to 379 meters, reinforcing the project’s role as a landmark within Wenzhou’s evolving skyline. The most recent revision came in 2024, when the building’s height was raised once again to 389 meters.
