The Brisbane Council has approved a lifestyle complex that will include two residential towers, one thirteen stories, one twelve. Sitting above the Lutwyche transit station, Lamington Markets will also include a market hall, specialty supermarket, urban farm, craft brewery, cinemas, and commercial spaces.
Designed by Conrad Gargett, the Lamington Markets development at 612 Lutwyche Road will deliver more than 134 apartments. According to the firm, the development attracted the attention of retirement living operators, and as a result the amenity mix leans toward a resort environment. The apartments follow universal design principles and can be retrofitted with home support fixtures to facilitate aging-in-place.
The 4,500 square meter market hall is inspired by other markets including the Borough Market in London’s Southwark, Adelaide’s central markets and Brisbane’s former wet markets. There will also be a 10,000 square meter retail precinct.
Developer Marketplace Developments first submitted the application in January 2020. It was approved on 21 July.
