The Levine Museum of the New South has sold its uptown building for US$10.75 million to a New York developer that plans to build luxury apartments on the site, the museum disclosed Thursday, 31 March, 2022.

Vela Uptown LLC is the buyer. Vela has formed a partnership with Post Road Residential, another New York-based company, to develop the residential tower.

The developers have not disclosed how many units will be in the building or how tall it will be. The release described the future development as a “high-rise” apartment building.

The property at 200 E. Seventh St. Levine Museum of the New South opened in 1996. It occupies 0.7 acres (0.28 hectares) and the building is 42,000 square feet (3,901 square meters).
