CTBUH has confirmed that Scholars Village, the flagship residential project within the Jersey City innovation hub SciTech Scity, has officially topped out.

Located in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City in New Jersey, the twin 12-story buildings are slated to be the “live” component of the development’s live-work-learn-play-connect environment for students, scientists, and entrepreneurs. The site will have 500 rental units and 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) of retail space when complete.

Located at 225 Phillip St., Scholars Village is being developed by Alpine Residential. CTBUH member DeSimone Consulting Engineering played pivotal roles on the team with façade and building envelope experts, along with structural engineers contributing to the project. The development team also includes Ismael Leyva Architects and Ettinger Engineering Associates. This structure aims to further strengthen New Jersey as a leader in scientific and technological innovation and the broader SciTech Scity, developed by Liberty Science Center and the City of Jersey City, will host Liberty Science Center High School and Edge Works, a business incubation hub. Plans also include three acres of outdoor space. Residents of Scholars Village will have Beta access to products created at SciTech Scity.

Scholars Village is scheduled to open in 2026.
