The city of Honolulu has approved a 36-story addition to the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Beach. Set to bring 515 new rooms by 2029 and push the resort past 4,000 total keys, oncle completed it would bring the project as one of Hilton’s largest properties in its global portfolio.

The building’s construction will replace older low-rise shops along Ala Moana Boulevard with a 350-foot (107-meter) building containing standard rooms, suites, retail, a pool, and lobby spaces integrated into the sprawling resort that covers 22 acres.

Hilton executives frame the expansion as a bold investment in Hawaii’s future, saying it will keep Waikiki competitive with other Pacific destinations while creating thousands of construction jobs and about 500 permanent positions, along with millions in new tax revenue.
