The second and final phase of CIBC Square in Toronto has been completed, delivering another 250-meter office high-rise, CIBC Square II, and an elevated public park that spans the city’s active rail corridor.
Located in Toronto’s financial district at, the mixed-use development, designed by WilkinsonEyre, serves as the headquarters of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) and consists of two 250-meter buildings connected by a one-acre sky park, scheduled to open later this year.
The first high-rise at 81 Bay Street, CIBC Square 1, was completed in 2022 alongside transit improvements around Union Station and was the overall category winner in the CVU 2025 Urban Habitat Award.Â
The second high-rise at 141 Bay Street shares a distinctive diamond-patterned glass façade with the first completed building and they are positioned perpendicular to one another, framing the elevated park designed in collaboration with Public Work. The park bridges the rail corridor with walking paths, gathering spaces, and outdoor amenities, strengthening pedestrian connections between Toronto’s financial district and waterfront.
“CIBC Square presented an extraordinary opportunity to rethink how large commercial developments can contribute to the life of the city,” said Dominic Bettison, Director at WilkinsonEyre. “The project embraces infrastructure as an organizing element that connects transit, landscape, workplace, and public space into a seamless urban experience.”
The completion of CIBC Square highlights the growing role of integrated, transit-oriented developments that combine high-density commercial space with publicly accessible open space, improving urban connectivity while overcoming long-standing infrastructure barriers.
