Development of the under-construction JW Marriott Al Marjan Island has reached a key milestone with the appointment of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) as the main contractor for the US$350 million hospitality project on Al Marjan Island, a group of four coral-shaped islands in a man-made archipelago located in the Persian Gulf.

This new five-star resort to the emirate’s rapidly expanding hospitality sector, will combine hotel accommodations with branded residences, retail offerings, wellness facilities, and leisure amenities. It will comprise a 264-key JW Marriott resort alongside 474 branded residences, including one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments as well as luxury penthouses.  Positioned on the waterfront of Al Marjan Island, the development forms part of a broader wave of tourism and mixed-use investment reshaping the Ras Al Khaimah’s coastline.

The appointment of CRBC highlights the continued role of international contractors in delivering large-scale hospitality and urban development projects across the Gulf region. Public and private investment is increasingly focused on expanding tourism infrastructure and diversifying the local economy. New hotels, integrated resorts, and supporting transportation and public-realm improvements are helping position the emirate as an alternative destination within the UAE’s broader tourism landscape.
