CTBUH is pleased to announce Giles Grant as our new Global Membership Director. With more than 20 years of senior leadership experience spanning global membership, marketing, and strategic growth, Giles brings a proven track record of building thriving professional communities and advancing engagement across multiple continents.
Most recently, Giles served as Executive Director at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), where he oversaw a multi-million-dollar global portfolio that included membership, events, digital learning, and community engagement. Under his leadership, IET achieved record growth across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas, while launching award-winning initiatives such as IET Inspec Analytics, IET Academy, and IET EngX.
Before IET, Giles held senior positions in the global publishing and information services sector, including Vice President of Global Marketing at Springer Nature for the Nature Research Group, and Senior Vice President at Pearson, where he led the global English Language Teaching & Assessment business and advanced international brand strategy. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles with Thomson Reuters, Incisive Media, and Reed Elsevier, where he focused on digital transformation, international expansion, and strategic acquisitions across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Giles holds a joint honors degree in History & Geography, an MBA in Marketing & International Business, and professional qualifications in both marketing and management. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Institute of Direct & Digital Marketing, the Institute of Directors, the Royal Geographical Society, and the Royal Society of Arts.
Giles’s deep expertise in global membership growth and community building uniquely positions him to strengthen and expand CTBUH’s international network, creating new opportunities for members to engage, collaborate, and shape the future of vertical urbanism.
