Foster + Partners has unveiled the design for Sudameris Plaza, a 39-story (188-meter) headquarters for Sudameris Bank in Asunción, Paraguay. Won through an international competition, the skyscraper will anchor a new mixed-use civic space and introduce a distinctive concrete-framed form to the city skyline.

The project integrates a public garden, art gallery, auditorium, cafés, and retail around a grand, double-height lobby. Set back from the street, the building creates a shaded pedestrian walkway and leads into a green plaza, where existing trees will be preserved or relocated. Low-rise cultural and commercial buildings activate the ground plane, establishing the development as a civic destination.

Sudameris will occupy the lower six and top two floors, with commercial offices for lease in between. Generous floorplates allow for flexible open-plan workspaces, connected to sky gardens and terraces. This will provide breakout and collaboration zones immersed in greenery. The top floors will house the executive offices and a private gallery with panoramic views.

Described by the studio as “restrained” and “timeless,” the project’s design strengthens the bank’s presence in the region while contributing to the public realm and urban ecology of the growing city.
