Houston-based developer and investment firm MetroNational has expanded its hospitality portfolio through the acquisition of The Moran CityCentre, a 12-story prominent luxury hotel located within the CityCentre mixed-use district in west Houston.

The acquisition was completed in partnership with Rockbridge, continuing a broader hospitality strategy that already includes ownership interests in the Hotel ZaZa portfolio across Texas. The Moran, a 244-room property formerly known as Hotel Sorella, occupies a central position within the CityCentre development and recently underwent extensive renovations completed in 2025.

The hotel forms part of a larger mixed-use environment that combines hospitality, dining, entertainment, and public gathering space. Alongside the acquisition of the hotel itself, MetroNational also acquired adjacent commercial parcels within CityCentre that house restaurants and leisure-oriented retail uses. The transaction highlights the growing role of integrated hospitality assets within mixed-use urban districts, where hotels increasingly function not only as accommodations, but as anchors for broader lifestyle and placemaking strategies.

The acquisition also represents a transition between two major Houston development groups, as stewardship of the property moves from Midway to MetroNational. Originally named in honor of Midway founder Jim Moran, the hotel has long served as a central component of the CityCentre district’s identity and hospitality offering.
