Developer Related Companies has unveiled new images of the SOM-master-planned Hudson Yards West development in New York. The project, proposed for a disused rail yard west of Hudson Yards, will be built on a platform over the Long Island Rail Road’s tracks and will include modern ventilation and safety systems, supporting a 5.6-acre park designed by Hollander Design and Sasaki.

The development will feature three skyscrapers, the tallest potentially reaching 357 meters, with a pyramidal design and glass façade covered in louvres. While the project is still under review by the city, it proposes plans for a hotel and casino in collaboration with Wynn Resorts, along with 1,500 residential units, 324 of which will be affordable housing. Additionally, a K-8 school is also part of the master plan proposal.

Emphasizing pedestrian-friendly design, the SOM-designed master plan pushes car traffic to the perimeter and creates parkland around the buildings, with easy access to the Hudson River waterfront. The development also aims for sustainability with all-electric buildings, photovoltaic panels, and stormwater recycling to irrigate the park.
