St Vincent Studios, a new purpose-built student residential development at the corner of St Vincent Street and Pitt Street in Glasgow, has been completed. Designed by Hawkins\Brown for Artisan Real Estate and Homes for Students, the project provides 321 studio apartments and contributes to the ongoing transition of the western city center from a predominantly commercial district into a more mixed-use neighborhood.
Located at the edge of the Glasgow Central Conservation Area, the building’s stepped massing responds to the meeting point between the city’s historic Georgian and Victorian fabric and more recent development to the west. Its taller volumes are positioned to maintain views toward the Category A-listed St Columba Gaelic Church, while lower sections relate to the scale of neighboring buildings. Three shades of green terracotta articulate the facade, referencing Glasgow’s historic use of ceramics while complementing the surrounding red sandstone architecture.
The completed development also introduces landscaped roof terraces on levels seven, nine, and 11, alongside coworking and study areas, a gym, yoga studio, cinema, meeting spaces, cafes, and private dining areas. At street level, new landscaping, stepped seating, and south-facing outdoor areas along St Vincent Street expand the public realm and create additional space for residents and the wider community.
