Curator of the Performance-Based Façade Design initiative, that serves as a pivotal platform for industry and academic experts, standing at the forefront of innovation within various companies and associations involved in façade design, manufacturing, testing, and standardization.
Postdoctoral researcher in wind engineering and building technology, with a focus on building envelope and façade design, Angela Mejorin is a designated expert for ISO, ASTM, CEN, and UNI standards development Committees. In 2022 she obtained a double Ph.D. from Western University (Canada) and Iuav University (Italy), with a thesis entitled “Wind-Borne Debris Resistance of Façades: Identification of Alternative Impact Test Requirements”.
Her mission is to advance and apply cutting-edge technologies and performance-based design practices to enhance the serviceability, sustainability, safety, efficiency, resilience, and durability of building envelopes in diverse conditions. She is dedicated to setting new benchmarks through the development and implementation of international standards, codes, and guidelines to positively impact our society.
She has been involved in research activities related to tall buildings since 2017, when she joined the CTBUH Research Office at Iuav University for the research on “Cyclone-Glazing and Façade Resilience for the Asia-Pacific Region”. Between 2017 and 2023 she has been working as a teaching assistant at the Iuav University of Architecture and the Western University of Engineering. Her background is in engineering, with a second-level specialized master’s degree in “Design and Construction of Tall Buildings”, received in 2014 from the Politecnico in Turin.
She is an accredited Professional Engineer in Italy and has experience working in the construction industry. Between 2014 and 2017, she worked as the Project Controller for the realization of the Alfa Romeo Museum and Headquarters in Arese (Milan, Italy) and for other projects in the Milan's Fashion District and Porta Nuova Garibaldi areas. Between 2013 and 2014, she worked for the Rizzani de Eccher construction company on the Grattacielo Intesa Sanpaolo, designed by Renzo Piano.
