Daniel Whittaker
About
Dan Whittaker, final year Ph.D. candidate, architectural history at the Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. His research encompasses how professionals and laypersons re-valued its own built history to create the house museum as a civic institution. This research traces the people who played essential roles in a pre-preservation era in Chicago, influencing and creating professional and political will to sustain the idiom of the civic house museum. Whittaker has based his methodology upon both traditional archival exploration and primary-source interviews conducted with elder living leaders in architecture, preservation and political realms—active in the 1920s through 1980s, in Chicago.
