Diederik Dam
About
Diederik Dam, third-generation architect, passionately leads Amsterdam-based Dam & Partners Architecten. Upon completing his studies at TU Delft in 1993, he joined the office his father prof. Cees Dam founded in 1962. His work ranges from theaters, urban renewals, housing and offices, transformations, renovations, interiors and concepts. Highlights in his oeuvre include the European Patent Office The Hague together with Ateliers Jean Nouvel, Eneco Energy sustainable headquarters, and Maastoren and Zalmhaven high-rises in Rotterdam (with 215 m. currently the tallest prefabricated building in the world). Major public buildings he designed are the Courthouse Lelystad and the recent transformation of the monumental Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture in The Hague. Currently, Diederik and his team are designing WELL-house in Amsterdam, an 86-meter tall timber-hybrid office building. His office furthers innovative and bio-based building solutions collaborating with industry leaders and academic institutions.
Diederik lectures on architecture and re-use world-wide. Diederik is part of the CTBUH Europe Scientific and Advisory Group, and served as member of the board of the Dutch Urban Land Institute and the Architectura and Amicitae society.
