About

Erik is an Anishinaabe Ojibwe architect, a member of the Michipicoten First Nation (Bear Clan), and is registered with the Ontario Association of Architects. With a strong focus on healthcare and sustainable design, he believes Indigenous perspectives are essential in shaping how we engage with the natural world through art, architecture, and planning. Recognized for his talent and versatility, Erik’s experience spans multiple sectors, including healthcare, post-secondary education, urban Indigenous not-for-profit housing, and on-reserve developments in collaboration with chiefs and councils. His ability to integrate cultural knowledge with contemporary design solutions has made him a sought-after architect in projects that prioritize Indigenous values and community well-being. Beyond his practice, Erik is an active advocate for Indigenous architecture. He serves as a Greater Toronto Area representative on the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Indigenous Task Force on Architecture (ITF). The ITF works to foster and promote Indigenous design across Canada, supporting First Nations, Métis, and Northern communities, as well as urban spaces. Committed to reconciliation, the RAIC and ITF believe architecture plays a vital role in restoring agency to Indigenous communities and addressing historical injustices through design.
