About
Fred Tai is the Director of Engineering for Simpson Strong-Tie Canada where he has worked for the last 19 years. He manages a team of engineers based in Canada that provide technical support, and creates technical literature that references the local building and design codes.
He has an extensive background in structural engineering and worked as a structural consultant in building designs prior to joining Simpson Strong-Tie. He is a licensed engineer registered in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario Canada.
During his career, he was involved in ASTM Wood Standards Technical Committee and EGBC (formerly APEGBC) Building Code Committee. He has a bachelor of applied science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada and is a licensed engineer in Canada.
