Gabriele Pascolini
About
Gabriele brings over 25 years of professional experience, across diverse geographic markets, to his leadership of SOM’s European practice.
During his tenure at SOM’s New York office, Gabriele honed his expertise in the design and delivery of high-rise commercial and residential buildings. Expanding his portfolio to include the Pertamina, the first Net Zero super-tall skyscraper; Arthaland Towers, the first LEED Platinum commercial office in Manila; and Singapore’s Guoco Tower, which he led as Project Manager.
Since relocating to SOM’s London office in 2015, Gabriele has overseen projects of varying scales and typologies through all phases—from programming and planning to design and construction. His in-depth knowledge of project management and the construction industry has contributed significantly to several of SOM’s most complex developments, including Charenton-Bercy in Paris—a new green, walkable neighbourhood near the Bois de Vincennes that aligns with the city’s long-term sustainability vision.
Currently, Gabriele is leading major master plans in Italy and Poland, along with architectural projects in Azerbaijan, France, Bulgaria and Italy. Notable among these are SOM’s sensitive renovation of Corso Italia 23 in Milan—transforming a 1960s modernist office building with cutting-edge environmental, wellness, and smart-building strategies—and the Milano Cortina Olympic Village, a sustainable and adaptable development for the 2026 Winter Olympics that will transition into a permanent residential district on the former Porta Romana rail yard.
Gabriele also leads SOM’s business development efforts across Continental Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, Gabriele regularly lectures at institutions such as Politecnico di Milano and IUAV, offering insights into multidisciplinary practice and the realities of constructability. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and industry events, where he shares his experience in navigating the many challenges of bringing complex projects to site—and seeing them through to successful completion.
