About
Garett Hwang is a Director of UNS, and a key leader of UNS Asia offices. In 2001, Garett received a Bachelor of Art from Brown University in Providence, RI, and in 2008 earned her Master in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. Since joining UNS in Shanghai in 2011, she has steered many of UNS’s key Asia projects. In 2017, Garett moved to Hong Kong to oversee the UNS Hong Kong office, and to continue the development and delivery of the WestK Performing Arts Centre. She has since furthered her focus on demanding performance arts venues by concurrently leading the new S3 Harbourfront Theatre in central Hong Kong.
Garett’s experience spans across typologies and scales, greatly focusing on the integration and smart application of computational design from project inception to realization to benefit project quality, cost and control of complex building designs. Through ambitious projects such as the Raffles City mixed-use development in Hangzhou and the WestK Performing Arts Centre, she has explored ways to re-interpret spatial relationships and discover hybrid programmatic interfaces that benefit the user. By additionally working on development of customer experience and architectural branding, Garett has also delivered a number of unique flagship retail projects, creating singular solutions that uphold identity while adding to brand value through strategic design.
