Isaac Work

About

Isaac Work joined the Council in May 2022 and is currently Associate Director of CVU Canada, the Council on Vertical Urbanism's Canadian research office, which he helped establish at Toronto Metropolitan University's Department of Architectural Science in 2025. He holds a B.A. in Public Policy, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago, along with postgraduate certificates in geospatial analysis and transportation network management. Commensurate with his academic background, Isaac brings experience in urban design, geographic information systems (GIS), data visualization, and data analysis to CVU. From an urban planner's perspective, Isaac identifies with and supports CVU's mission by creating data tools and reports that support sustainable vertical urbanism for policymakers and designers of urban space.

While at the Council, Isaac has led publication projects including The World's 118 Tallest Buildings (2022), the inaugural CTBUH Data Handbook (2023), and successive editions of the interactive CVU Global Activity Series covering the a new region every quarter. He has also built a suite of internal data applications and dashboards supporting CVU's research and membership operations, and has represented the Council at events such as the World Urban Forum and various planning conferences.

Beyond CVU, Isaac's passions include sailing, cycling, photography, music production, and actively participating in public meetings.
