About

Mr. Nichols co-founded Devon Energy in 1971, which today is among the nation’s largest independent oil and natural gas producers. He served as CEO and Chairman of the Board, and is currently Chairman Emeritus.

Mr. Nichols earned a degree from Princeton University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan. He served as clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren in the US Supreme Court. He then served as Special Assistant to Assistant Attorney General William H. Rehnquist at the Department of Justice.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority and the Alliance for Economic Development. He remains active in numerous nonprofit organizations.
