Karla Cruz Ruelas

Council Designated Expert

About

Drawn to the belief that architecture creates a positive impact at both the macro and micro level, Karla uses design as a way to provoke feelings and guide behaviours in order to benefit people and the future of our cities. A licensed architect in Mexico, she brings over 10 years’ experience working within the mixed-use, residential, commercial, and educational sectors.

Joining BDP Quadrangle in 2016, Karla has been involved with many of our mixed-use projects including 6150 Yonge Street, an 11-storey development with residential, retail and public spaces; 3526 Lake Shore, an innovative mid-rise residential loft complex; Jane and Rutherford, a three-tower residential development as part of the Vaughan Master Plan; and CG Tower, a 60-storey landmark residential building in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. An active member of the BDP Quadrangle studio, Karla takes a lead role within our BIM Support Team, curating the materials library, as well as advocating for change in terms of sustainability, resiliency, and our approach to the future of residential design.
