Marc Easton

Council Designated Expert

About

Marc is a senior structural engineer at Arup based in the London Buildings Group. He has worked on a variety of projects both locally and internationally, including Chapultepec Uno in Mexico City, 52 Lime Street in London, and La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, and takes a particular interest in buildings in high seismic locations. Marc is currently leading the structural design of a 270-meter mixed-use tall building in Bogotá, Colombia.

Marc holds a first class honours degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Manchester and is a chartered engineer through the Institution of Structural Engineers. He has authored a number of published technical papers, including studies into the use of high strength steels in tall building design and innovative bracing arrangements. His special interest in high seismic regions has led to the design and justification of beyond-code provisions within tall buildings using advanced analysis techniques, designing instead to performance criteria at varying seismic hazards. Doing this ensures an inherent resilience of the structure while minimising cost and material usage and is the basis of the majority of tall buildings he has designed.

As one of the founding members of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s Young Professionals Committee in London, Marc aims to bring together collaborators from all parts of the industry to design and construct the best buildings of the future.
