Kaan is an Architect and Façade Engineer at Buro Happold in New York, where he is part of the firm’s Façades team delivering advanced building envelope consultancy on complex, high-performance projects.

At Buro Happold, Kaan provides technical leadership in the design, analysis, and realization of façade and building enclosure systems across all project stages, from concept and schematic design through detailed design and construction. His work integrates architectural intent with structural, thermal, energy, and material performance, supported by advanced analytical tools and computational workflows to deliver durable, efficient, and climate-responsive façade solutions. His expertise includes curtain wall and glazing systems, bespoke façade assemblies, and high-performance building envelopes, supported by strong technical knowledge in material integration, constructability, durability, and environmental performance. His work spans both contemporary façade design and the assessment and retrofit of existing and historic building enclosures.

Kaan’s project experience spans commercial and institutional buildings, high-rise and mixed-use residential towers, large-scale retail and transportation hubs, and high-end hospitality developments. He has collaborated with internationally recognized design practices and developers, contributing architectural design, façade engineering, and construction-focused expertise to projects across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. His background also includes prior leadership roles in architectural design and construction management on fully delivered projects, providing a comprehensive and practical understanding of design execution, site coordination, and construction processes.

His international experience across Turkey, Italy, Russia, and the United States informs a globally informed and context-sensitive approach to architectural design, building performance, façade engineering, and construction. In addition to professional practice, Kaan is actively engaged in mentorship, education, and industry involvement, contributing to diversity initiatives and supporting the training and development of emerging designers and engineers.

Kaan is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), and holds NCARB certification. He earned a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Pratt Institute in New York as a Fulbright Scholar, and a Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction from Middle East Technical University, where he graduated with high honors.
