Mikkel K. Kragh
About
Professor Mikkel K. Kragh is Head of Department at the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Aarhus University, Denmark.
Mikkel was appointed Professor in 2017, after having served as head of programme at the Danish Architecture Centre and having worked internationally as a façade specialist on numerous prestigious construction projects with Arup consulting engineers, the Permasteelisa Group, and Dow Corning. In parallel with design work, he has led a number of collaborative R&D projects, consistently pushing the boundaries in the field of high performance facades.
Having held various positions spanning research, specialist contracting, specialist consulting, supplier, and having chaired the Society of Façade Engineering, he has unique insight into high performance building solutions as well as the role of specialist design input in the Construction Industry.
Mikkel holds an MSc in Civil and Structural Engineering and a PhD in Building Physics from the Technical University of Denmark. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng); a Member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (MASHRAE); Member of the Chartered Institute for Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE); and a Fellow of the Society of Façade Engineering (FSFE).
In 2014, Mikkel was awarded the CIBSE Silver Medal for outstanding service to the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
In 2017, Mikkel became a member of ATV – the Danish Academy of the Technical Sciences – an independent, member-driven think tank. ATV’s vision is that Denmark shall be one of five leading Science and Engineering regions in the world – to the benefit of future generations.
In 2023, Mikkel co-founded the Aarhus Centre for Regenerative Building as a joint initiative by Aarhus University, Aarhus School of Architecture, and Søren Jensen A/S consulting engineers.
