A chartered Structural (MIStructE) and Fire (MIFireE) engineer , Mostafa is the national director of structural fire engineering at Stantec. He leads his team with a focus on structural performance under fire conditions—he’s dedicated to advancing public safety through innovative and practical solutions.
Mostafa collaborates with leading committees including the British Standards Institution and the European Committee for Standardisation. He also works with Collaborative Reporting for Safer Structures (CROSS) and the Institution of Structural Engineers, where he contributes to critical discussions and initiatives.
As a published author, Mostafa has written extensively on structural fire engineering. His book, Behaviour and Design of Steel and Composite Connections in Fire, was the first dedicated book on this subject and currently is preparing a book on designing steel modular structures under fire. In addition to his research and publications, Mostafa has delivered technical presentations and mentored engineers worldwide, sharing his knowledge to support safer and more innovative designs.
