Nick Gillespie is a Major Projects Development & Delivery Director at Mott MacDonald, bringing over 30 years’ experience in the construction sector and a global track record across complex infrastructure and high-density urban developments.

A Chartered Structural and Civil Engineer, Nick is widely regarded as a tall buildings specialist. He has worked extensively across New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Korea and the Middle East, contributing to landmark projects including the tallest building in New Zealand, a new generation of commercial towers in the City of London, and major vertical developments across Asia-Pacific. More recently, he has been involved in the development of a paradigm-shifting linear city concept in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Nick combines deep technical expertise with a strong focus on project strategy, constructability and value optimisation. He has led and contributed to the design review of numerous tall buildings, advising clients on efficient structural systems and delivery approaches.

He has particular expertise in the application of innovative supplemental damping systems, optimising building performance under dynamic loading. More broadly, his work focuses on enabling resilient, sustainable and commercially viable vertical development.

In 2026, Nick relocated to the United States, where he is now applying his global vertical urbanism experience to support major infrastructure and development opportunities in the US market.
