About
Philip Vivian is an architect and urban designer who specializes in city transformation. He has continuously studied city design throughout his career, both at the London School of Economics and at Columbia University, New York. He is the Managing Director of Bates Smart, where he has led the Sydney studio since 1998, and the President of the CTBUH Australia Chapter.
Philip’s dedication to creating high quality city-shaping architecture is illustrated across the breadth and depth of his portfolio. His work sensitively balances a mixture of uses with public space. In doing so, it creates a more dynamic and sustainable urban fabric that transforms how people use and experience the city.
