Preetam Biswas
About
Preetam Biswas is Associate Director of Structural Engineering for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP, New York. With a wide range of international projects, he has had significant experience designing innovative structural systems for super-tall towers, long-span structures and specialty structures. Since joining SOM in 2004, Biswas has played an important role in the design and development of Super Tall Buildings including; the 450m Ziefeng Tower at Nanjing, China, Pearl River Tower at Guiyang China, Cayan Tower in Dubai, and led the design of Shenzhen Sum-Yip Tower 1 which implemented a unique Ladder-Core System. He is currently leading the structural design of One Manhattan West, Bangalore International Airport and Kansas City International Airport.
Biswas authored multiple Technical Papers and actively participates in various committees. He is a voting member of the ASCE Tall Building Committee and Chairs the Task Committee for Performance Based Design of Tall Buildings for Wind Load. He is also member of the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEoNY) Structural Engineering Licensure Committee. Biswas did his Bachelor of Architecture from Bombay University, India and Master of Architecture and MS in Civil Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
