Richard Kirk
About
Richard Kirk is the Principal Director of KIRK, formerly Richard Kirk Architect, which he established in 1995 after graduating from the University of Queensland in 1991 with first-class Honours. Richard’s noted academic achievements (QIA Memorial Medal and the Board of Architects Award for Academic Excellence) provide an intellectual basis for the foundation and direction of the practice which now has studios located in Brisbane, Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.
Richard Kirk has established the practice as a leader in designing buildings of cultural significance on sensitive and important sites, with the majority of its commissions awarded through design competitions. Recent achievements include the inaugural Queensland Medallion for the Mon Repos Turtle Centre, awarding of first prize for the design of the National WW1 and WW2 memorials in Canberra in an international design competition; first prize in design competitions for the University of Queensland’s flagship buildings the Advanced Engineering Building and UQ Business School; and most recently Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, Learning Hub North Spine.
