About
A native of Scotland, Russell Gilchrist has worked largely in the USA, UK (Europe) and Asia, on projects worldwide. He became the Design Director for Gensler in Beijing after transfered to the Shanghai office in the same role. He is now a Principal based in London although spent the previous 8 years in the Chicago office. Prior to his current role he was a Director at AS+GG (Chicago) and Technical Director/Chicago Practice Leader at SOM (Chicago), Senior Associate at Richard Rogers Partnership (London) and Senior Designer at Foster + Partners (London). His completed, award-winning, high-performance projects include:

Russell has extensive high-rise experience on projects and completed buildings inmany cities/locations across the globe. He has published and lectured internationally on sustainability/high performance low energy projects as well as tall buildings and is active within the Council on Vertical Urbanism (formerly CTBUH). He has published papers at the Council’s Dubai (2008) & Shanghai Congresses (2012) as well as Conference papers at Chicago (2009) and Mumbai (2010). Russell has participated on the Sustainable and Fire & Life Safety working groups and has at various times provided advisory to the Height Committee. He recently co-authored a chapter for the tall buildings’ reference book entitled ‘Towards Energy Independence’.
