About

Stefano Cammelli has 20 years’ experience in experimental and computational wind engineering. As part of WSP UK’s Specialists Group, he leads the ‘Advanced Structural Analysis’ team which provides a range of complex analyses and simulations in support of the structural engineering design activities of the business. This dovetails with his 'Head of Wind Engineering' role in the company which allows him to also continue to work on wind engineering technical challenges across a wide range of commercial projects. WSP UK’s “Wind Engineering” team provides specialized experimental and numerical wind engineering services in support of most of the major multi-disciplinary projects of the business and it is also uniquely positioned to offer independent and unbiased technical advice directly to end clients.

Cammelli’s extensive consulting experience includes both the ordinary and the ‘esoteric’ and covers highly specialized technical subjects such as aeroelasticity, climatology, as well as full-scale structural monitoring. In his career, he has led the wind engineering work for several hundred high profile projects around the world, including tall and super-tall buildings, stadia and arenas, airports, bridges, sculptures and offshore structures. His areas of expertise include: wind loading, wind-induced vibrations, fluid-structure interaction, performance-based design, design of auxiliary damping devices, full-scale structural monitoring, risk assessment, forensic and root cause analysis, climatology and extreme winds.
