Based in Gensler's Chicago office, Stephen serves as a Technical Director for the firm's North Central Region. Stephen's expertise in façade and building envelope design provides his clients with progressive and sustainable solutions. He favors an inclusive design process which recognizes the importance of teamwork and listening. As a leader in the Office Buildings Practice Area at Gensler, Stephen has played strategic positions on award winning projects including the Johnson Controls Headquarters Asia-Pacific, the Willis Tower Redevelopment project and the Kohler Global Communications Building. He has lectured in the United States and Europe and has authored papers on the subjects of façade design and sustainability. Stephen is a founding member of Gensler Enclosures; a group dedicated to innovation and research for building enclosure design. Stephen is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the AIA National Building Performance Advisory Group and is a LEED accredited professional. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart College and a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. Stephen was a Lieutenant in the US Naval Reserves serving as an officer in the Civil Engineer Corps from 2004 to 2012. He was deployed to Al Anbar Province, Iraq in 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
