Tariq has 20 years of experience spanning investment banking, private equity investing and corporate M&A. He is currently the West India CEO for Prestige Group, a leading developer of real estate.
Before moving to the Prestige Group Tariq was the CFO India at Trafigura, one of the world's largest commodity trading firms. Prior to Trafigura, Tariq was a Managing Director at Paragon Partners, a mid-market India focused growth private equity fund. Prior to Paragon Partners Tariq was the Global Head of M&A at Cipla Limited, an Indian generic pharma company with a market cap of $6b. At Cipla he completed 9 acquisitions in India and various international markets of Asia, North Africa and the Middle East as well as established Cipla’s entry into the US through a $550m acquisition.
Prior to Cipla, Tariq was a Vice President at General Atlantic, a global private equity firm with $17b under management. Tariq joined General Atlantic in 2008 and worked in its Mumbai office for 6 years focusing on investment opportunities in telecom, media, technology, business services, healthcare, energy and logistics.
For about a year in 2007 after moving from the US to Mumbai, Tariq was a Vice President with Blue River Capital, a $140 million fund focused on growth equity investments in mid-cap companies in India.
From 2001 to 2006 Tariq was in the US working in advisory and investing roles. He started his career at Morgan Stanley in 2001 as an investment banking analyst and, in 2003, joined AEA Investors, a US$1.2 billion fund focused on buy-outs of mid-cap companies located in the U.S. and Europe.
Tariq has a BBA in Finance/Accounting from the University of Michigan’s Ross Business School.
