About
Victor Montero has been a member of the [url=http://www.usgbc.org/]Green Building Council Costa Rica[/url] (2013), United States Green Building Council (2012), and the Costa Rica's Architects and Engineers Consultants Chamber (CCAI) (2009) and one of the Directors of the Board since 2010 from this last one, acting as chairman two committees, Social Responsibility and Tall Buildings, as well as a member of the Sustainable Design Committee. His tenure has seen a revitalization of the CCAI increasing its efforts and initiatives in those fields, in order to upgrade the relevance of the consultant as a key players in the planning, design and building process in his country. Currently, he is founder and facilitator for the Living Building Challenge Collaborative: Costa Rica, and a member of the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). It´s Living Future Hero 2019 and LEED GA, EDGE International Expert, RESET Expert & Auditor, Living Future Accredited (LFA) and Regenerative Practitioners by REGENESIS Institute.
A Costa Rican licensed architect and LEED GA, his specialty is sustainable design. Prior to joining the CCAI, Victor was an Urban Planning and Development Director at the Municipalidad de Montes de Oca, from 2003–2006, where he coordinated the technical sessions to approve a new Master Plan for the county of Montes de Oca.
From 1996-1999, he founded and ran the University of Costa Rica the Sustainable and Peace Institutional Program (PRINSOPAZ) as a the first interdisciplinary effort to officially promote sustainability into the University, developing an environmental dimension for teaching, research and social action with special attention to teaching strategies.
Victor has worked as an architect since 1992, creating his own firm in January 2009. For 20 years, he developed his passion for, and professional background in, sustainable planning and design, where his he was awarded by the First Biennial of Architecture, 1992, with the first prize on Research, Critic, History and Planning Category for his work
