Dr. Zhendong Wang, China National First Grade Registered Architect, is the Professor and Doctoral Student Supervisor at College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University. He is also the Associate Director in Academic Affairs of the CTBUH China Office, and a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of High-Rise Buildings (IJHRB).

Dr. Wang was enrolled by the Architecture Department, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University in 1997. As an exchange student, he studied at the Department of Architecture, Hong Kong University and finished his Undergraduate Diploma Design in 2002. During his Graduate and Post Graduate periods, Prof. DAI Fudong (Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering) and Prof. WU Lusheng (Chinese Architectural Master) were his supervisors. He got his Ph.D. degree in 2008 and started teaching in his alma mater. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Architecture Department of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2011 to 2012.

Dr. Wang focuses on the research of mixed-use complexes, tall buildings as well as collaborative development of dense urban habitat. He wrote the book Research on the Contemporary Mixed-Use Complex and Research on the Synergy of Mixed-use Complex which have already become important academic monographs in China, undertook 4 Projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC) and Shanghai Pujiang Program, and has published more than 50 papers on this subject area. He also hosted or involved in more than 10 large public building and urban design projects.

During the past 14 years, Dr. Wang also obtained many results in the field of education. He was chosen as a representative from Tongji University to support the architectural education in Xinjiang University. He published more than 20 teaching research papers and led students to win more than 30 National or International Design Competitions which including the “Cyan Dragon award” of 2011 Asian Contest of the Rookies’ Award, and the First Prize of Vertical Cities Asia International Design Competition 2013, 2014. As for his outstanding contribution on education, he was awarded as the National Outstanding Young Architectural Teacher in 2013 and the Shanghai Youth Award in 2017.
