The recipient of 2014 Research Seed Funding, kindly sponsored by ECADI , was a team from the University of Southern California, whose project, “Building Façade Retrofit: A Database Of Completed Projects,” studied façade-design optimization projects undertaken on existing tall buildings to date. ECADI Chairman Junjie Zhang presented an oversized check to USC team member Andrea Martinez. The research project began within two months of the award and was completed in nine months, at which point the results were delivered to CTBUH for dissemination. The winner was chosen by the CTBUH’s Research Seed Funding Review Committee out of 30 proposals received from 11 countries.
