Determinants of Skyscraper Heights and Completion Rates

To run statistical analyses to investigate what factors contribute to skyscraper development.

The 2015 Research Seed Funding, sponsored by Sun Hung Kai Properties, was awarded to Jason Barr, an economics professor at Rutgers University who will investigate the determinants of skyscraper heights and completion rates across 62 Chinese cities from 1978 to 2014. Starting from a data set of all completed buildings related to the study, Barr has run statistical analyses to investigate what factors contribute to development. The winning proposal was chosen by CTBUH’s Expert Peer Review Committee out of 28 total submissions.
